Has anyone ever used Suruga-ya's kaitori service whilst they were in Japan, and if so, if they allow customers to just come in and trade items for cash then and there, or would you need to go through a whole process of sending your items off to them for evaluation? I participated in a Bandai Spirits kuji and got some items I don't want, so it'd be good if I can get rid of them before I leave Japan.

escape_ropeVor 9 Monaten#69881861I was hoping to place an order again, it's been at least a year for me, but looks like many things have changed(?)
Is it not possible to use their Japanese site and use a foreign credit card to pay? How about PayPal? I used to use BiJ as forwarder for my orders in the past.
I took a look at their international site but my country is not listed and they only offer EMS and SAL, and registered Small Packet isn't even available for my country.

Unfortunately they don't accept foreign credit cards, only PayPal :/
I had to cancel one order because of this.

noctisityVor 9 Monaten#69884001I'm not sure about foreign credit cards as I haven't used that method for over a year, but I can confirm they still accept Paypal. I placed an order a few weeks ago and received my order at BIJ with no issues.

    Thank you both!

I'm fine with PayPal. As long as I'm able to place an order on their Japanese site and use BiJ's forwarding service I'm all good!

Does suru still have some kind of service fee if the order total is less than some specific amount?

There is a 216 yen handling fee if you spend less than 5000 yen.

Noticed this when I was placing an order just a little over 4k. Had to add some more but I don't mind ^^ It's seems my last order was from Jan 2018, I'm so excited to shop with them again! (last time my order was missing a keychain actually, but it probably cost less than 200 yen so..)

What I didn't remember was that BiJ repackage fee is now 1,500 yen instead of 1k. I assume suru still uses those big-ass shipping boxes that aren't SAL-able?

Yep, the BiJ repackage fee went up :(. Suruga-ya does have 80 size boxes, but you have to be buying small things for them to actually use one. My latest order was a 120 size that was able to be repacked to SAL SP.

Suruga-ya, as well as Melonbooks, still uses their huge boxes for all orders :(
Remambo even has an article about Suruga-ya with photos of their large boxes and fitting them into Small Packets:

Yes, I'm affiliated with Remambo, and I can even answer to any question about this shopping service, if you have any ;)

Might want to screenshot the error so we can see what you're seeing?

(I've never been able to checkout in Chrome desktop - but that doesn't error, just doesn't progress. Usually either flick into mobile mode via the Inspector or use Firefox to complete checkout).

This is the error I'm getting just before the page where you enter payment details.

I don't think it's my browser's problem since I ordered fine last week. It's also happened in the past but fixed itself after some time. Anyway, I emailed them just in case.

*Edit: randomly working again after 2 days.

Text implies it is the backend that fell over, so probably a temporary issue.

Hi guys. This is really random but..:p I want to buy a second hand PSP from their English website. It is 6000yen (no box, cables or anything, just the PSP itself)

What bugs me is there is literally no information about the condition of the PSP itself. I read on their Q&A page that they don't answer questions about the condition of items.

Has anyone ordered an item from them with no info about the condition of it? Did it come in good condition?

I ordered a doujin on the Japanese site and I'm pretty sure the condition wasn't stated. When I recieved it, I saw it had tea or coffee stains on a bunch of the pages and the last page was stuck to the back cover. That was the first and only time I had an issue with an item that didn't have info on the condition. I was honestly so surprised they even took the doujin in its condition. The price was about standard for a doujin by the specific author on Suruga-ya so I didn't think there'd be an issue.

Have you checked the listing on the Japanese site? It might tell you the condition!

That’s awful! I’m sorry you experienced such bad service! :(
I checked the Japanese site. It is the exact same ;w; No info.. I guess I’ll just buy it since it is so cheap

Thank you and it's ok! The proxy I used apologized for not checking the condition of the doujin before sending it to me and was kind enough to refund me the cost plus paypal fees since they couldn't find a replacement so it worked out. It's not too hard of a doujin to find so I'll get a new one in the near future. Luckily that's the only issue I've had. Everything else has been a-ok!

I do hope there's nothing wrong with the psp! I'm crossing my fingers for you and sending you lots of good vibes! Is there a way to contact them through the English site to ask about the condition? I'd try and give that a shot before making the purchase. Either way, good luck! <3

So the 120 size is too big to be shipped as Small Packet? It needs to be repacked to a smaller box in order to use Small Packet? Are there any box sizes between 80 and 120?

I haven't been paying attention to the box sizes but recently I got a small order from AmiAmi and the shipping box says 80 size.
Earlier today I got a shipping notification from suru and now I'm checking the tracking and it says Yu-Pack 80 size !!! I can actually use the cheaper option on BiJ this time, yay!

The box sizes refer to the length + width + height of the box - so if it's bigger than 80 size, it is likely to exceed the 90cm allowed by small packet.

Here are the sizes Japan Post recognises:
    www.post.japanp...

So a 100 size could potentially be hit and miss, but I'm guessing standard sizing would denote it'll be a box with 100cm dimensions being used. I don't think Suru has boxes between 80 and 120 from my experience. In most countries, you'll find the standard box sizes fit in with whatever the domestic carrier recognises (in the UK, boxes will generally be the max size of small or medium parcel, following Royal Mail's size chart).

recently I just bought a garage kitt from suruga-ya but few days later I noticed the item I just bought still listed for sale in their site,I am sure the stock stated as only 1 left before I purchase it, but somehow the item still didn't change to sold out. Anyone else notice this change when you buying stuff from suruga-ya this week?

I ordered from them a few weeks ago and my payment went through fine with Paypal, but today I tried again with a couple of adult items in the order (adult items mean Paypal isn’t an option), and I got the message “card is error.” Is my card being declined because my bank thinks the international transaction is suspicious, or is Suruga-ya actually rejecting my card?

It could be either situation. I recommend contacting your bank since that would be the easiest way to check if your bank is the problem.

Based on prior experiences I've seen in the thread though, it seems like if Suru has an issue, they will ask you to use a different method like COD instead.
