On the second hand market (which is the easiest way to get lottery prize figures) it will likely be a bit more. So you can expect more items like smaller figures, post cards or dishes. I don’t think paying the 5k yen will guarantee you a figure.
The price of the tickets is what’s interesting, though. Ichiban Kuji tickets are around 800 yen. You could win quite decend and rather big figures. So what quality will this figure have? And what other prizes will the lottery set contain? It just can’t be regular kuji items...

Yeah at Mandarake on the floor below the shelving there's bins with random treasures in there if you're willing to dig for a while. At Book-Off there were stretches of shelving that were just keychains... a mess but sometimes you find something good. In Akihabara there was a store that was ONLY keychains and the selection was absolutely amazing but some items were mighty pricey. Also if you go to Mandarake at Nakano Broadway there are shops in the mall there that exclusively carry lots of small items, gashapon and keychains.
It does get overwhelming and fatigue sets in but you get revitalized when you find something good! haha

I live in the UK and frequently buy doujinshi, I only buy yaoi admittedly but I've had no problem getting R-18 into the country. At conventions in the UK, it is not uncommon to see doujinshi being sold (yes, even loli stuff, I have seen it) so no you don't have to worry.
I buy my doujinshi on Mandarake and they have a pretty big selection but obviously there are doujin-specific stores that will have more choice out there. Those typically require a proxy or have a high markup though (like Doujin Republic, though I have used them and they're cool.
