♥ Q&A - what kind of collector are you? ♥Kommentare • ♥ Q&A - what kind of collector are you? ♥

    1. No, I'm not a character shrine collector. The closest thing that I got to a shrine is my Yoko Littner and Mikasa collection, which only consists of 3 figures per character.

    2. Yes, absolutely. I don't care if I don't know the origin, as long as the figure looks really nice I would buy. Figures actually help me discover new anime. For example, I got a really nice Matoi Ryuko figure figure which introduced me to Kill la Kill. Pretty awesome really.

    3. Non-movable for me. Scales are just real pieces of art. I kinda don't like joints. I only own two figmas because of this, and this is because the only figure available for those characters are figmas.

    4. I don't get color variants for I find them a waste.. however, if I wasn't able to get the original color, I would go for the color variant.

    5. Big collection for me. I downsize my collection, but only because of pre-loved figures or figures that I bought impulsively. Like you, my goal is to turn my house into a figure haven. I don't really care if my parents aren't supportive of it. :)

    1) are you a "character shrine" collector? aka, do you extensively collect anything of your favorite character, or do you only get figures you truly like?
I'm just looking out for figures I really like and I prefer a certain variety of different characters. Then again, if I've already got a figure of a character, I wouldn't mind buying another one, if it's a really nice one, too.

    2) do you collect figures of characters from things you've never watched/read/played?
As a matter of principle, I only buy figures of characters I know and like. But I have to admit, sometimes seeing some especially nice figures of a character, makes me want to watch the shows they're a part of.

    3) do you prefer non-movable or movable figures?
Static only. Unfortunately there are some characters I'd really like to see a non-movable version of, but it seems like the waiting is hopeless. Especially male maincharacters seem to get only figmas most of the time.

    4) do variants seem like a waste of money or a new way of displaying a previously loved figure if you own the original already? (haha this one might be controversial ;w;)
If figures weren't that costly, I might give it a go. But taking a look at the common prices I'm not really interested in variants of figures I've already got.

    5) do you try to keep a tiny collection or do you like having a huge collection? and for the people that do have huge collections, do you like downsizing it?
I don't try to keep my collection small, but I don't have a huge one either. Downsizing would just kind of break my heart, I guess, so I think I'd not really be able to do it. But starting with a rather small collection, I plan on keeping it growing constantly. Even though I take my time doing so and order only the figures I really fall in love with. After all, I guess only time can tell the final answer to this question...

    1) are you a "character shrine" collector? aka, do you extensively collect anything of your favorite character, or do you only get figures you truly like?

I've got a nice balance between the two. No shrine though.

    2) do you collect figures of characters from things you've never watched/read/played?

Not at the moment, but I've a few things on my wishlist should I ever become rich, lol.

    3) do you prefer non-movable or movable figures?

Both is good. Most of my figures are nendoroids, but other than that I collect 1/8 scales.

    4) do variants seem like a waste of money or a new way of displaying a previously loved figure if you own the original already? (haha this one might be controversial ;w;)

I like some variants, but I wouldn't be able to justify buying them (unless I became rich, lol).

    5) do you try to keep a tiny collection or do you like having a huge collection? and for the people that do have huge collections, do you like downsizing it?

I won't be selling anything any time soon and I keep finding things I want to buy, so... I'll run out of space before long.

    1) are you a "character shrine" collector? aka, do you extensively collect anything of your favorite character, or do you only get figures you truly like?
Nope, I will collect any figure I like the look of - I don't really stick to a certain character.

    2) do you collect figures of characters from things you've never watched/read/played?
Yes. Some people won't agree as you know nothing about the actual character, but figure collecting is an aesthetic-centred hobby so I don't find an issue with it. Plus, the more figures you buy, the more you're supporting the Japanese economy, so it's fine.

    3) do you prefer non-movable or movable figures?
I think both can be super fun. Static, dynamic poses are great to look at but experimenting and creating your own poses is great too.

    4) do variants seem like a waste of money or a new way of displaying a previously loved figure if you own the original already?
In my opinion, sort of. I would just buy the variant I like the most (unless it's super expensive or rare).

    5) do you try to keep a tiny collection or do you like having a huge collection? and for the people that do have huge collections, do you like downsizing it?
I'm probably going to stick to a tiny collection just because it's more manageable that way (cleaning, selling etc.)

    1) are you a "character shrine" collector? aka, do you extensively collect anything of your favorite character, or do you only get figures you truly like?
    - No, I'm not a character shrine. :'D I don't have a "favorite character" waifu or something like this. I got a few characters I like, like Sansei Muramasa, Homura or Sonico... But I won't buy anything of them.

    2) do you collect figures of characters from things you've never watched/read/played?
    - Absolutely. Unfortunately I know not many animes, nor haven't watch many of them. Same with mangas. I just read a few manga series like Fruits Basket, Ah! My Goddess, Elfen Lied, Get Backers, DearS, Chrono Crusade, Elfquest... but unfortunately there aren't my figures of those series, so... ya. Most of my figures I do not know the originals or animes, but I don't care.

    3) do you prefer non-movable or movable figures?
    - I would say non-movable. I own a few Nendos too, but I don't move or change them very often.. and I just own three figmas, but this should be all. :)

    4) do variants seem like a waste of money or a new way of displaying a previously loved figure if you own the original already? (haha this one might be controversial ;w;)
    - I won't buy the same figure twice. Even if there are two different colors, I won't place the same figure twice in my collection, so I would say it's a waste of money.

    5) do you try to keep a tiny collection or do you like having a huge collection? and for the people that do have huge collections, do you like downsizing it?
    - When I started collect figures, I wantet to get sooo many. But know, because lack of space, I realized, that I should be more picky and I now try to downsize a bit.

    1) are you a "character shrine" collector? aka, do you extensively collect anything of your favorite character, or do you only get figures you truly like?
No with figures, sorta-yes with plushies. I own like...6 Repede plush goods. And there are "overlaps" with how many figures of a character I own if they're distinctive enough (scale versus trading/nendo).
    I don't build shrines though, I don't have the space for that. ;w;

    2) do you collect figures of characters from things you've never watched/read/played?
I was about to go down that path with ITEM #549029 once she would've come out but I started playing Overwatch before that so.. I'm good now. So to answer your question: I avoid it as hard as I can but if I like the design too much and have a general idea of who/what the character is, I buy.

    3) do you prefer non-movable or movable figures?
Non-movable. I'm not one to play with action figures anymore and scales are much more detailed than S.H. Figuarts, Figmas, etc... also I dislike joints. Nendoroids are okay.

    4) do variants seem like a waste of money or a new way of displaying a previously loved figure if you own the original already?
I'd prefer a completely new concept over variants. Most of them seem cheap to me, i.e. only a small detail changed or a recolor that doesn't even look decent or in-character. I mean, even if they swapped the whole outfit it'd still be the same pose. e_e

    5) do you try to keep a tiny collection or do you like having a huge collection? and for the people that do have huge collections, do you like downsizing it?
I went from "I only want a few figures" to "I want a huge collection" to "Well, now I gotta be extra selective because I'm running out of space".
I don't enjoy downsizing in particular because even if I find something I want to sell, the selling process is a hassle...

    1) No, though if I like a certain series / show....I tend to get almost every items released for that particular series as long as it is within the product line or certain scale / size I collect.

    2) Yes, I did buy impulsively sometimes if I like the design / style without knowing the origin. I get to know a few series / show after buying the figure first then learning the origin later.

    3) I prefer moveable figures. I simply like to fiddle with my figures and changing poses every once in a while to keep the display dynamic.

    4) Not really a fan of variants. I prefer to get something I haven't already owned (as in different item / character instead of the same stuff with different color) esp. since the budget is limited. Exceptions may apply but that would be very rare.

    5) I like having variety so huge collection for me. I rarely downsize and it's not easy for me to downsize either since like I said before I tend collect an entire series so if I wanna let go of something (say the figma madoka kaname) then it's either all goes or nothing goes (so every single figma of madomagi series must go or I'd rather just keep all).

    1) -YES. For the love of my favorite character (and limited amount of money), I do collect every single one of his original goods.

    2) -NO. The other items doesn't have an appeal on me LOL

    3) -Hmm.. movable. My favorite character doesn't have figures so, I really want them to create one. especially a Nendoroid.

    4) As long as it's the character that I love, i don't regret wasting my money for him :"D

    5) The bigger shrine, the better XD He doesn't have much goods as the main character (which is good for my wallet) but I do buy some duplicate items..

    1) are you a "character shrine" collector? aka, do you extensively collect anything of your favorite character, or do you only get figures you truly like?
Yes to both. I extensively collect particular characters that have figures that I truly like (quality ones).

    2) do you collect figures of characters from things you've never watched/read/played?
I'm trying to stop buying those, but I've had a few.

    3) do you prefer non-movable or movable figures?
Non-movable with the exception of dolls, which I guess aren't really figures.

    4) do variants seem like a waste of money or a new way of displaying a previously loved figure if you own the original already?
    Waste of money.

    5) do you try to keep a tiny collection or do you like having a huge collection? and for the people that do have huge collections, do you like downsizing it?
I'd like to have a moderate sized collection of figures that I love.
