I just ruined the fan on my Sanada! I used alcohol to clean the figure of some dust goop and a drop of something from my ceiling I think (don't ask I don't know what that small spec was) and there are streak marks now. Her fan has white cleaning lines on it because the alcohol was too strong. I only put a dab too! My friend warned me about alcohol THE DAY BEFORE this happened too. I've always used it but this is a first. Ooohhh... T_T *sad*

Is there anyone who had this problem before or anyone who knows how to fix it? Is my Sanada done for? D': What can I do? Please, any constructive advice is appreciated. *^*

P.s. Right now I'm usings just my iPhone. It will take a few moments to get some photos uploaded due to coding limitation and well.. It's a phone.

excelenceVor 7 Jahren#1427342Thought... I really have no advice how to fix that kind of damage, but i do have some suggestion for cleaning figure.
Dish cleaning liquid & Soft Tooth brush... well, if u brush the stain gently and dry them right away, there'll be no damage done to your figure in cleaning them(works on any kind stain/dirt in my experience, even heavy dust caused by sweating).
Cleaning this way can also remove sweating on figures.

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. I will try this as soon as I get home. I just hope it doesn't make things worse. Dx Thank you for the suggestion! ^^d

.....DIES.......but then gets resuscitated after reading the comments that suggest how you can salvage the fan.

Jesus Goddamn Christ this is an expensive figure...lesson learned: alcohol is no friend to PVC. Or to alcoholics.

Heido-kunVor 7 Jahren#1319480OH MY GOSH! i'd have NOT done that if i were you! Dx
i don't even use water or any liquid to clean my loves because of the fear of them getting messed up or something like that :|

I don't know what I was thinking. I feel like such an idiot. But it's all good if I can manage a custom re-paint when my Internet gets back up. :]

Yeah I need to do my research or simply stick to water and cotton swabs now.

........WHY!?

@tiradical: Wow yeah NEVER put acetone on your figure...#1 worst enemy of plastic haha, it'll melt it right away.

C'mon guys, let's use science a little and think before you put strange solvents on your figures lol

tiradicalVor 7 Jahren#1316686I once used nail polish remover (I know it's not actually an alcohol) to remove some crazy glue I got on my computer mouse and it absolutely destroyed the plastic finish underneath.
That is called acetone; one of the worst enemies of plastic, as it dissolves ABS and PVC. So stay clear of that stuff!(unless you want to get rid of your old figures)

Could I ask what type of alcohol you used to clean the fan?

I would be surprised if some diluted or even pure ethanol removed the paint from the fan, but I know rubbing alcohol is a bit stronger when it comes to cleaning solutions.
