I’ve been debating on ordering the Byleth 1/7 scale ITEM #1436894 since her announcement and saw she went back up for PO on GSC’s US website.

But the catch is, she’s a full $100 more + shipping on GSUS vs. AmiAmi.

~$250 USD vs. ~$150 USD

The main reason why I’ve been putting off my PO is because I’m worried her box will be massive bc of her additional sword. I saw that Ike ITEM #1131808 was~6500yen to ship to US but that was before shipping increases last year from what I understand.

So I was wondering if anyone might know if the markup for GSUS typically account for oversized boxes or what reason exactly, it’s just that it’s significant enough for me to question it, lol.

Is it better off gambling with pre-ordering through AmiAmi in your experience? Or—is it safe to wait for her to release and then decide? :o

RelaxedTime_404Vor 14 Tagen#120090787As a fellow Byleth lover, you have excellent taste ♡ mybestgirl I definitely think AmiAmi is the easier bet, even if slightly pricey. I know with how much I love her I would rather get her asap than have to wait even longer than i already have. Fingers crossed we get a nendo or figma soon to follow!

Fingers crossed, I hoped we'd get a nendo announcement with the release of 3hopes or Engage. Maybe if the PUPs and scale sell well enough... ;^;

If not, she's my next custom project after the Lamine sibs. ^v^

I went with AmiAmi when faced with same choice. I’m expecting $80 shipping for EMS/DHL/FedEx int. to the US.

Heard some horror stories about GSUS too. For a figure I want less I’d risk it, but F!Byleth is nearly my favorite FE character. I’m not leaving it to chance. She might bin like Lyn but I want her to come home ASAP. Seeing what happened to Camilla I’m kicking myself for not buying another one for mint in box XP

ghost-birdVor 14 Tagen#120088729Yeah, the aftermarket for the FE girls is terrifying lol. On top of that, Byleth is my favorite FE MC and I absolutely know I'd either regret missing out on her, or eventually end up folding to aftermarket inflation.
I think I'll take my chance with AmiAmi. Thank you for the help! :D

RelaxedTime_404Vor 14 Tagen#120079780Id go with AmiAmi for sure.
With goodsmile us you're gonna be waiting till April for her to arrive stateside. So in addition to paying that much more, youre gonna be waiting a while. With converting USD to yen, $250 comes out to 32.5k yen. Right now shes 20k yen on amiami and I dont see her shipping costing 12.5k, probably around 6-8k at the most if im estimating right based on recent purchases ive made. The only 12k shipping i paid for was for a Honkai Impact figure that had a box so oversized it was ridiculous tbh.
Regardless, youll get her so much sooner with DHL and even if you want to get her surface shipped, youll get her around the same time she's even heading toward the states to GSCUS. So id just bite the bullet with AmiAmi if you really want her. I also did an air parcel of a couple figures i combined an order for, one being a kotobukiya and figuarts zero so decent sized boxes for sure, i paid 7400 yen for that shipping. Just look over your options, but the two month earlier delivery is the easiest factor for me in getting my grubby hands on her.
I also wouldnt wait for her drop. Shes one of the more popular figures on amiami based on the likes and general orders she sat in top 10 for a while during that initial pre order period. With her popularity in japan as well it may be hard to get her in the aftermarket unless you jump on her drop immediately. Fire Emblem figures are so hit or miss with aftermarket. Lyn has binned but i have a feeling shes gonna be a Cordelia and climb after some time...i just wouldnt take the risk with any FE girls at this point.
Goodluck with whatever you decide to do!

rishnasVor 14 Tagen#120086398It's all based on yen exchange rate. Byleth is 25k yen on GoodSmile Global (price with Japanese tax).
GoodSmile US uses a fixed exchange rate GS determines at the time the preorder opened. It looks like byleth opened in early 2022. For a long time they used a 100/1 exchange rate.
This fixed rate can be good or bad for you, determining what rate they fixed and how the yen is doing. For example, you'll see that recent preorders on GoodSmile US have had better exchange rates (some late last year had 150/1)
Where to buy just depends on what's cheaper for you.
Edit: they fix the exchange rate so the price doesn't change no matter what happens to the yen rate since they're charging you in USD. AmiAmi charges in yen so it just depends on what the rate is at the time you pay

Ah, that absolutely makes sense now! Thank you for the clarification.

Eluna Zhongli Scale When? ♡
If you wait she will 100% be back in stock on GSC Global with flat rate 2k shipping once released (sometimes can take a week or so after release for them to update). She will also be back in stock in Amazon JP as well around that time.

If you're willing to wait a month until she's released you can contact amiami's customer service for an estimate and make an informed decision.

Also, a little tip for amiami if you're going with them. Ask them to consolidate and use the smallest box possible for shipping. I've heard it usually works and lowers the shipping costs even after the invoice was issued.

Also I don't know if global ships to the US but she's 25K yen over + 2K flat for shipping which makes them worth looking into, just make sure to set the currency to yen not dollar and you'll be charged accordingly.
