Hello MFC! And welcome to another blog in my collection series! These blogs cover figures from my collection that have been in storage for a long time due to my emigration. I also use this as an opportunity to practice with my new camera (getting the right focus can be hard) and also appreciate the items I have been owning for a longer time!
The figures we are going to look at today:
- The Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ x Lucky Star prize figure set, consisting of:
x Takara Miyuki ITEM #264881
x Hiiragi Tsukasa ITEM #271940
x Hiiragi Kagami ITEM #271939
x Izumi Konata ITEM #238305
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - Yami Yuugi - ARTFX J - 1/7 (Kotobukiya) ITEM #91000
The Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ x Lucky Star prize figure set
Takara Miyuki ITEM #264881

Miyuki is absolutely adorable in this cosplay!

She has the typical flaws you can expect from prize figures (non-perfect paint application, small scuffs etc.), but the amount of details on the figure is definitely above average!

I like how her long hair is tied up.
Hiiragi Tsukasa ITEM #271940

Tsukasa is the only one from the set with battle damages (which is a common happening on KC characters).

She looks adorable and I like how she is tugging her clothes.

The way she 'jumps' from the base is very nice and as with a lot of KC characters: I'm loving her shoes!
Hiiragi Kagami ITEM #271939
My Kagami also had some kind of 'battle damage' but not in a way I was expecting!

It's hard to focus on the rest of the figure, because...what is happening with her legs?!

It looks like the paint has been rubbing off or she went through some extreme discoloration. Nothing of her packing in the box suggested the paint rubbing, so I was lost at what happened with her during the time in storage. It's like the paint just decided to degrade (because of lack of air?).
Before I packed her up, she didn't have perfect legs either PICTURE #1722292 and you can already see some of the black paint on her kneesocks not being fully applied. This however, is a lot worse. I am thinking about completely repainting the kneesocks at some point.

All that complaining aside, let's look at the rest of this figure! She has extremely cute posing and a nice color palette!

Possibly one of the best Kagami faces represented on a figure, her eyes are great!
Izumi Konata ITEM #238305

Last but certainly not least: Konata! The colors look great on her as well!

Her Rensouhou-chans are her three friends (Miyuki, Tsukasa and Kagami).

From all of them in this set, the smaller details on this one probably look the best!

10/10 shoe design! And for a NSFW look underneath that skirt: View spoiler

Konata went all the way with her cosplay accuracy!
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - Yami Yuugi - ARTFX J - 1/7 (Kotobukiya) ITEM #91000
I have been talking so much about YGO trading figures recently, but of course I'm also going to cover my scaleds from this franchise!

Starting with the first-ever YGODM scaled figure, Yami Yuugi! Already 8.5 years old, time flies! I remember like it was yesterday that I pre-ordered him!

His eyes are so determined and good looking! I'm so happy how accurate to the source material they are.
The black choker has stained a bit on his neck over time. I'm going to try to remove it later.

Overall this figure is a bit basic at some points, but there are very good details at multiple parts, such as the Millenium Puzzle and the Duel Disk.

He's great and with his many re-releases, still easy to pick up for other YGO fans that want the main character in their collection.
I'm putting them in spoiler as the pictures are horribly out of focus, but here is the pre-order bonus from his first release: A bigger sized Millenium Puzzle keychain: View spoiler

And to finish it!
For those who read all this way, thank you! My next blog will probably be another entry for this blog type!

Thats good to hear that you think it would hold up, I too watch the english dub on youtube and it seemed still really good, but I'm a person who was fully into anime at the time ,2008, Lucky star still aired. Yeah it was just spurned me to comment was that I read an article/comment the other day which stated that the pop culture references were in lucky star makes are outdated for the more casual of the newer generation, Gundam (Which Konata's Dad usually obsess about/ and mecha as a whole while it still exists now was a whole lot more popular in 2005 to 2010 then it is now.
While Hauruhi and Azumanga Daioh among other's don't rely as much on meta knowledge of the day, and especially not on the fast moving, in comparison, Japanese pop culture.
Which got me thinking about the comment.
One of the things, and i need to re-watch Lucky Star is that if it would be as appealing to watch now as it was in 2008, as it relied imo a lot on current culture at the time.
Ie: Konata & Nanako Kuroi played an MMO, lots of people had played WOW back then not many people play or would have invested as much time in MMO's these day for the joke to be as relatable.
Thanks! :) I rewatched LS 2 years ago and it still holds up pretty well! A lot of the jokes are still things that could be happening today, I guess you could say that only the references are a bit outdated. Most of the references are to Haruhi Suzumiya and although a great series, most of the nowadays anime watchers wouldn't know what that is.

If Lucky Star was made today, it's interesting to speculate what sort of tie-in figures like the Lucky Star-KanColle ones would be made. Konosuba and Re:Zero seem like pretty natural candidates.
Yeah I have no idea what happened there. I never had a figure degrade so much after being boxed up for a while (or while having it on display, actually). I left a comment on the item page as well, because I am curious if other people have it. There has always been something off about the paint on her kneesocks.
That's interesting and your guesses seem pretty accurate! These figures are only 5 years old though, so never say never for more collabs! I would love to see them combined with a magical girl series, there are so many to have remained popular over many years. Madoka for example had many collabs with other franchises, so why not LS some day? :)

Lucky Star seems quite open for collaborations as we also have figures from LS x Macross ENTRY #25075 , LS x Street Fighter browse.v4.php?v... , LS X Strike Witches ITEM #99405 and probably some more I am forgetting now. I think they are a lot of fun! :D
Lucky Star is such a great sol series. I hope it gets attention from upcoming generations of anime fans.
Yeah it's such a nice combination and great if you like both franchises! :)
I'm not really sure if it grabs the attention of the newer generations (I do hope so!), but for sure Lucky Star keeps on being alive with older fans giving it attention and buying new merchandise! :)
