Ich bin über 18
I've been going to Otakon for almost 10 years now (I think my first Otakon was 2009) and this year I feel like I bought more stuff than I usually do (I guess you can do that when you finally have a real career). So instead of just including it in my usual monthly loot post I decided to make a post just for Otakon loot with lots of pictures.

My best friend and I (she's come with me every year to Otakon except 1) decided to take the metro into DC, it's definitely more complicated to get to downtown DC than to Baltimore where Otakon used to be. Between driving to the metro station and actually riding the train, it took us a little over an hour to commute each way. So, we decided to just go on Friday and Saturday and not bother with Sunday.

I still felt like 2 days was plenty of time...somehow I felt like the Dealers room was smaller this year than other years? It didn't take us that long at all to get through that room.

Friday Loot

I didn't buy too much on Friday; we mostly went to Artist's Alley and we went through about half of the Dealer's Room. The rest of the day I would say we mostly spent in panels.

I totally couldn't resist this Kirby print from Jugum-purplepuppet's booth. They also have a deviantart and tumblr. My friend bought Digimon stickers from their booth, they had a lot of adorable stuff!

Next, I had been on the look out for Bandori related merch, since I just got into the game Girls Band Party. Well, I found a booth selling keychains of all the Bandori girls - my best girls are Arisa, Ran, and Ako, so I had to get them. (I had to struggle to limit myself to just those 3 though)

The artist that made these is chimelon, (twitter here) they also have an online shop with lots of amazing stuff :D

I discovered the keychains were double sided!

(Not anime related), also in Artist's Alley, I picked up two little cacti that were hand made with crochet. I collect cacti (real cacti, I mean) so I decided to pick up a few of these to go with them!

The artist, Thirty Seven Stars, had cacti of all different sizes but I decided to limit myself to the small ones...

Saturday Loot

I would say that on Saturday I had a pretty good idea of all the things I wanted to buy, after looking at everything on Friday. We went back to the Dealer's Room first.

I began by stopping at the doujinshi stand we always go to each year. Usually I would buy some Love Live yuri, or something, but I didn't see any that caught my eye...maybe the good ones were already picked over? Anyway, I looked in the "original yuri" section and picked out these two.

As you can see they're by the circle Twin Heart. The first one is called "Sweet Devilish Doll".

The second one, "Chocoholic", involves some actual chocolate, as the title implies.

After that, we went by a booth with tons of idol stuff, especially Love Live stuff. I saw this booth last year and I regretted not buying anything there, so I got a bunch of things this time around.

I picked up this Love Live shirt with the first years on it, it has their signatures on the back of the shirt as well. Pretty basic shirt, but the other shirts they had at that stand were really expensive (like $50+ for one t-shirt...)

They also had a stack of doujinshi priced at $8 each. Although, the NicoMaki one was $16 because it's thick. In addition to the doujinshi, I also got a Honoka shikishi (autograph board) back from the screening of Love Live School Idol Movie. I went and saw that when it originally came out, but I got the Hanayo board.

"Shiny x Live 2" is one of those little doujin "artbooks". This is the first time I've ever gotten one before, although I've seen them for sale at Melonbooks.

The Lingerie book is another doujin artbook but with only lingerie pictures:

The NozoEli doujinshi is basically a hot springs manga:

https://image.ibb.co/i34Vqp/20180815_144540.jpg

Then the NicoMaki doujinshi is just like an anthology of sorts.

My friend and I stopped by the Kinokuniya stand and I really enjoyed looking at all the artbooks they had. I decided to buy this one called
"The Visual Dictionary of Uniform", it has pictures drawn by lots of different artists. It's got lots of cute girls (most of the pictures are NSFW)

Finally, in the Dealer's Room, I bought these puffy penguin and whale stickers, and a big Mew plush.

https://image.ibb.co/fYBh39/20180815_152935.jpg

My friend got some other puffy animal stickers, there were so many cute stickers it was hard to resist. The Mew plush is from the "I love Mew" collection in Japan and it's very soft, I love cuddling it.

Finally, I stopped by the Artist's Alley one more time and got this small 8x8 print of Anzu Futaba from moorina . I bought 4 of her prints last year, this time I just found one that interested me.

And that's my entire Otakon loot, I had a great weekend and I definitely wish I could go to anime conventions more often...although it's probably better for my budget this way xD Thanks for reading!!

moonstarfc (Vor 4 Monaten) #38823108Wow, that'a a really long time, that's crazy! I was sad when they moved it from Baltimore too, I just find it a lot more difficult to get into DC. Personally I also dislike the fact they have to check your bags every time you want to go in the building unlike in Baltimore.

Yeah, DC is definitely more difficult due to the traffic and the bag check is kind of a pain but the line seems to go pretty fast. Still, since you've already experienced it in Baltimore, you'll always find yourself wishing for the "good old days". :) In any event, glad to hear you made out on the loot this year and had a great time!

greenknight (Vor 4 Monaten) #38810797I love Otakon! I've been going to it every year since the first one in 1994 and have only ever missed the 2nd one in 1995 (because I was unaware of it) and the 21st one in 2014 (because a planned vacation overseas conflicted with the date). I was kind of sad when they moved it from Baltimore, just because I was so used to it there, but I think Washington is starting to grow on me. :)
