I Have Urgent Information About Anime Island's Website ClosureI Have Urgent Information About Anime Island's Website Closure

casenumber00casenumber00Vor 2 MonatenNews
Today I got I got a Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case notice in the mail identifying the owners of Anime Island and their court proceeding for debt protection from creditors, those they owe money to. I am not sure how I got this but when I first heard of Anime Island website closure, I filled out over a half dozen forms to consumer protection websites in a fit of rage and fear and I guess one learned something and sent me this info. I have scanned my document and the link to the file is down below. With this being said, you can act, and should act, now so you may hopefully get your money back. With this information present, it does not guarantee you will get your money back. Think of this as an arrow in the right direction that many of us need. This document lists, not as well as I would like, of what to do as a creditor but it is legal heavy and after a few hours of reading it and researching what to do, I am still at a loss. If anyone knows what to do conserning with information of this document and/or follow directions to get your money back, say something. If you went through what the process listed, archive what you did. Everyone we are in this together and please share so we can get back at these plaintiffs for running away with our money. Lastly, there is a deadline to act and file iw listed in the document and that is 11/20/18, About 3 months months from the time of this posting, so act fast. Here is my link to my scan of the document with first names and most of SSN number whited out: xxx

About the document that I removed, it listed the filing was in the US Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the court case number is 18-14971-ref filed on 7/27/18. Go to pacer.gov and hopefully you can find it.

Please spread the word.

Wonder how long until we see something similar for Kirin Hobby.

That's another trainwreck in progress, and MFC had (still has?) banners proclaiming them as MFC partners.

Another cautionary tale about why paying for a pre-order is always a risky gamble (I've learned the hard way many years ago). Wish you for the best thought customers are rarely the first to refunded in such situation.

skylinedo (Vor 2 Monaten) #38536906i contacted them about my preorder a few weeks before my PayPal dispute window closed. they have abysmal communication so I had to file the claim just to get their attention. I left the claim open until I got my figure. Such a shame by they're very local to me. Seems the first sign of a company tanking is bad communication.
I had placed a pre-order with them when I was new to MFC (the "MFC Partner" banner ad gave me the warm fuzzies).

Cancelled that right quick when I read up on their rep. Had to file a dispute with my CC company, and fortunately, I did this within 30 days.

maggie (Vor 2 Monaten) #38512419So, what is the best course of action here? For the people who suffered from losing money to AI to band together? A petition to be given to the judge overseeing the case?

I am hoping someone with more knowhow will come along while I try to figure out things for myself.

Overyodel (Vor 2 Monaten) #38505137Not to be a total douchenozzle but isn't this one of those websites you'd be constantly advised NOT to order from? Where? I bought a few things from them and didn't have a problem until they disappeared. I did have two items on pre-order with them so I filed a claim with my bank/credit card company and got a full refund at the time.

Oh damn...I've bought a figure there in the past, and swore to never order from there again, they kept pushing the date back farther and farther without notice, and shipping took forever. Just a sketchy feeling in general with the way they conducted business. I did get my figure after all of that, but it was still a nightmarish transaction. Now I see this. OAO I wish the best for everyone! It sucks to have to deal with this sort of crap.

It will be difficult to get any money right now because any and all eligible assets are frozen by the court. The case is also not at the claim stage yet. A stay has also been issued so it is unlawful for you as a creditor to contact these people directly now to collect while the stay is in place so DO NOT contact them.

You can try your bank/paypal/cc company but at this point you are basically asking them to take over your collection of debt, which is unlikely to happen since they probably don't want to be wrapped up legally more then they perhaps already are.

Before you do anything it would be best to seek legal advice (PS: not a lawyer) to make sure you don't do anything that could jeopardize your ability to collect or otherwise put you in hot water.

Seems like many people are starting to get the document anyway so lets try to work out what to do with the information. Lets try to figure out the process of how to get our money back. Even though I retracted the document, again, others have the document from their mail and I left information of the Bankruptcy case to find it. We can work with what we have now to get in on this case. Jenthehen said he/she has an account with PACER ("Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) is an electronic public access service that allows users to obtain case and docket information online from federal appellate, district, and bankruptcy courts, and the PACER Case Locator. PACER is provided by the Federal Judiciary in keeping with its commitment to providing public access to court information via a centralized service." (pacer.gov)) and might post the documents. A thought I had earlier maybe go back to your credit card, bank, or paypal, and notify them of this new information and try to persuade them again. Our focus is to get our money back.
