Rem Sega PM FigureRem Sega PM Figure

So this is a review about the prize Rem figure by Sega ITEM #605218

I bought this figure for 1900¥ because I thought it was absolutely adorable (and I love Rem). I wanted to do a review on this figure because when I bought it I tried to find pictures that other buyers had taken to see what the final product was like, but I couldn't find any.

Recently a lot of good looking prize figures are being made and I've noticed their size has gotten a bit bigger as well, but has the quality improved. I'm going to keep in mind the price and that this is a prize figure when rating this figure, so I'll be basing it more on a quality to price ratio.

So first we'll start off with the box.

I'm sorry I didn't take many pictures of the box, however it's a pretty standard box. Only pictures of the figure are on the front, I'm the sides there are just a few patterns and 'Rem' written on one of the sides. Then on the back is all the text that you would normally find on a figure. So nothing really special.

Inside the box is the protective plastic casing. Not sure of ita official name but you get it with most figures, it basically keeps the figure in place.

On to the actual figure.

The figure itself comes in 2 pieces, the figure and the base.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761500.jpeg

The base is rather simple and just has the name of the series features on it. One off thing about the figure are the pegs on the bottom of Rems feet.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761504.jpeg

They've done it so she is raised slightly and her feet are tilted forward. I'm not sure why they have done it like this, why was it so important to see the tops of her feet from the front view but apparently it was. Honestly I'm sure most people would have been content if her feet were flat on the base.

Now onto some of the details on the figure. One of the first things I noticed when I unpacked her was the additions to get hair.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761485.jpeg

I'm sure I've read someone mention before on a different figure that it looks like last minute strands were added on.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761478.jpeg

There are some on both sides and it does kind of stand out a bit. But keeping in mind that this is a prize figure and the hair from the front looks great, I'm not put off by this.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761520.jpeg

Her head band looks decent. There isn't any major paint defects which is surprising. Honestly there aren't many paint defects on the figure. There is what looks like dirt on the back of one of her legs but my camera won't pick it up. But I'm sure I'll be able to get rid.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761497.jpeg

Now talking about the face. I absolutely love how cute she looks. I love the front of the hair and her eyes. One thing I've disliked about price figures is that sometimes their looks rather thick, like it was sculpted with playdoe. But I love the sculpting on the front of the hair and the shading to it. This is one of the reasons why I really wanted this figure.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761489.jpeg

The sculpting of the body is amazing. I love how it shapes her body. It really shows off her boobs and curves. There is really much shading to the dress and the only part of the figure that is shaded is the hair.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761493.jpeg

I wanted to mention how they actually look the time to add her shoulder blades to the sculpt. I think it's it's really nice touch.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761515.jpeg

The end of her dress a nice frill like pattern going along the edge. Very well detailed.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/AshuriiKareshi1519761511.jpeg

She has possibly yellow ribbon around her wrist, neck (see images above for the one around her neck) and ankle. The plastic here does look kind of cheap and easily breakable but it is a nice touch.

And that is it for my review. This is my first review so I'm sorry if I should have gone into more detail. The figure is really nice and is definitely worth the price.

Final comments:

The sculpting is really good except for a few error but if these were cleaned up it would make a fantastic figure.

The painting is good, not really many errors but there isn't much shading which makes the dress and skin a bit flat.

I really like the pose although I don't understand the thing they've done with her feet.

And one final image

AshuriiKareshi (Vor 2 Monaten) #31653638I think some of the sculpt is better then some prize figures, taking the nurse Rem for example. I don't own her because I'm put off by some of the sculpt, especially the front of her hair because it looks really chunky. But maybe that's just my opinion XD
But the strands of hair that look like they're literally glued one really let the figure down. Luckily they aren't THAT noticeable when you diplay her. But there's always that nagging feeling because you just know they're there -.-

Prize figures are getting better and better, but can still sometimes be a bit of a gamble with the quality. Especially with paints that can be a bit crude on the spots that should have small details. Still, in the end, even with a 'less than average' prize figure, you still can get most of them for such a cheap price that you can't really complain. ;)

Maakie (Vor 2 Monaten) #31653064Yegh, those extra strands of hair look...not good. The rest of the figure I would call average for a prize figure, with the exception of her face being super cute. ;) Anyway, thanks for the detailed review! :)

Larx (Vor 3 Monaten) #31314987Solid overview, thanks - in general, I'm finding prize figures to improve in quality for sure, esp. across yearly generations. This one looked p. decent & your review confirms my initial evaluation! Real cute & fetching dress on her, I must say. ^^
I own a couple figures including ITEM #583734 where clearly the manufacturer intended to depict a "dynamic" pose - it can work at times, but yeah, at other times, I wish they'd just place the feet flat onto the base. I've found myself wishing both ways even for the same figure - conflicting. X3

I guess the little extra on the feet makes the figure taller which is kind of good. But sometimes it looks unnecessary, like they could have the ball of the foot on the base and a support on the back of the foot.

But I am happy the quality and size has improved over the years. Like Rem is larger then my 1/8 figures and the quality is better then I expected.

missprototype (Vor 3 Monaten) #31314860Nice review! Just as a reference for any upcoming or older prize figures you might be interested in this blog. It’s mostly dedicated to prize figures and has a lot of good pictures. Of course prize figs are pretty variable in quality, I think its a good means of seeing the sculpt and what the colors are like.
Wow I'll definitely check this blog when the other prize figures I've ordered come out ^^ thank you. Recently some prize figures have been looking really good, but oviously there are going to be a few issues that won't be on the prototype, so it's nice to know what to expect from them.
