Japan Summer Loot!Japan Summer Loot!

Notice: Image heavy, a lot of text ahead. If you don't like reading, you can just scroll down and check out the pictures.

Good day everyone!

This summer of 2016 I went on a holiday vacation to Japan for 3 and a half week, along with family members and a good friend. We had an amazing time! We travelled through Japan by Shinkansen highspeed train and we visited some amazing places like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Nikko and more!
Up next is a loot from the items I bought, collected from different stores throughout Japan. Most items are from Tokyo (Akihabara, Nakano).
As you might know, I'm a Dead Or Alive fan and you can tell that from the upcoming post. The loot mostly contains figures and videogames.
The loot isn't as big as expected, but there's a reason for that, which I will explain at the end of the post. I got some amazing deals and ended up spending not as much as I thought. I was surprised that all of these items fit into my suitcase+backpack! My original plan was to bring 2 suitcases, but it wasn't the best idea for moving around in crowded areas and narrow spaces.

(Finally I got to post this July/August 2016 loot)

Anyway,

Let's starto!

Before we begin, let's look at the aftermath of the loot. It's like an otaku went on a shopping spree. All in general, this is what the total looks like:

Enough previews. Now it's time to look at the actual content of the bags.

The first and biggest part is the Dead Or Alive loot!

Here we have the Griffon Enterprises Dead Or Alive 5 Kasumi 1/6 scale figure ITEM #186113
I missed the pre-order on this one, 2 years later after release, I finally bought it. It was harder to find than expected. I picked this up at one of the Sofmap stores in Akihabara. They had 2 of them, the other one at the front of the shelf had a badly discolored box, probably because it's Griffon Enterprises. As you can see, the box is damaged too, it wasn't really a good idea to fit this in my suitcase too.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322733.jpeg

Following up, we have the Shunya Yamashita Kasumi prize figures in her signature blue costume ITEM #556 and white 2P costume ITEM #557. I picked these up at the Suruga-ya store. Before I only picked up the blue Kasumi, but only an hour later I came back to buy the white costume version too, to make the set complete.

Then we have the Dead Or Alive Xtreme (2) Ayane trading figure in her blue Unicorn swimsuit ITEM #7072
I spotted this figure in the outside display of a store in Nakano. They had other DOA trading figures too, but I don't need to collect all of them. Ayane fits nicely with the other Kasumi Azami figure ITEM #7069 that I already own.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322116.jpeg

That was just the Dead Or Alive merchandise for now, let's move on to the video games part, but still continue on the Dead Or Alive part too.

Up next is a Dead Or Alive 2 game that I've never seen before and bought for a nice deal at Book-Off. I already own the western version and the Japanese version of this game, but this was completely new to me. This seems to be the Dead Or Alive 2 steelbook limited edition or first edition for PS2. I didn't even know this existed, in fact, I can't even find a picture of this on Google or Ebay!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322760.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322762.jpeg

Ongoing, we have the Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate Collector's Edition for PS3 ITEM #382553. I already owned the game for quite some time, but I still really needed the collector's edition, mainly because of the Kasumi oppai mousepad. I was happy to find this and at an attractive price too.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322984.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322982.jpeg

So on, there's the Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3 Collector's Edition for PS Vita ITEM #356771. As a Dead Or Alive fan/collector, I needed this one too. I'm mostly into the DOA fighting games, but I might play this game too from time to time. Mostly I was interested in the goodies and I was surprised that I found such a good deal for still a pretty new released game. I decided to go with the PS Vita version, because of the Honoka oppai mousepad and technically it's more worth the money. I bought this one at Trader 1. It was nice to see Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3 commercials and promotions too in Akihabara.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322920.jpeg

The Dead Or Alive part ends here and the videogames part still goes on.
Now there's the Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai Portable special edition for PSP. I got this at Trader 1 in Akihabara. I got the cheaper edition, before they had the bigger special edition too, but when I came back later it was sold already. On almost the last day of my holiday, I saw this special edition too at Book-Off, but it was complete. Mine has missing bonus items, which are the poster and the CD I believe.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474323706.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474323708.jpeg

I was really happy to stumble upon this next item. It's the Nendoroid Generations limited edition for PSP ITEM #106423. I found this at Trader 1 too. In my opinion it's a great deal, a Nendoroid game, along with 8 Nendoroid straps from popular animes. Even though it's small, it's so much merch in a small pack.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322644.jpeg

Now we have a random Fate series PSP game, which I don't even know the name of. It's some kind of card game. Not really a game I needed, but I couldn't leave it there.
I picked this up in Nakano for the deal of only ¥100.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474321946.jpeg

Now we have a Fate game that I actually know and wanted to buy. Fate/Extra CCC for the PSP ITEM #149476. I never got this game before too, but now we're already at a new PS Vita Fate series game. I got this at a figure store in Radio Kaikan, where there was a small display of used videogames. In Akihabara I saw a lot of promotions for Fate/Grand Order (on PS Vita), with people lining up in front of stores too.

*Pictures Fate/Extra CCC PSP*

The last 2 items were from the Fate series, the video games part continues and here's the Hatsune Miku part.

I decided to buy the original Hatsune Miku Project Diva for PSP, the first game of the series. Until now I only owned Project Diva F for PS Vita, but I want to try the other games of the series too. I bought this one for cheap, close to our hotel in Tokyo where we only stayed for 1 night. The (used) game shop where I bought this was open until 2 am and I bought this around 11pm!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474321944.jpeg

While I was at it, I needed Hatsune Miku Project Diva 2nd for PSP too. I accidently found this one for a super deal. It was only ¥100, while it usually costs around ¥800! This time it was too good to be true though, the game was C or D or junk condition. The UMD literally falls apart, but I believe that can be fixed with some glue or a new UMD casing. The game case has some kind of coffee stains too. lol

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474321948.jpeg

Those were the videogames and now onto the last Hatsune Miku item.

I only partly know what this item is. Bandai Hatsune Miku Hako Vision. It seems some kind of mini stage, which can play 2 songs and project a small Hatsune Miku and plays the songs. You can connect headphones to the little device. I bought this at the store in Nakano, where I bought the Ayane figure too.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322685.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322683.jpeg

The next 2 items are K-On! items that I got, one of my favorite animes of all time. Actually I wanted to get more, but I always want the complete band of 5 figures if I start a new collection of a series of figures.

Here's a K-On! Movie Mio Akiyama strap combo that I got. It comes with 2 straps, which is nice. I bought this one at Mandarake in Nakano and I found it in a packed box of random K-On! merchandise and goodies.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322049.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474321997.jpeg

This is the first K-On 5th Anniversary item that I got. I'm not exactly sure what it is. It's a Banpresto Ichiban Kuji prize, it's A3 format and I guess that it's some kind of cardboard display. I picked this up at Sofmap in Shinjuku.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322134.jpeg

The following 3 items are the Super Sonico items that I bought.

Another figure I got is this Taito Super Sonico blue parka ver prize figure ITEM #123387. I was looking for this item, but since it wasn't a prize anymore, not too easy to find. Many stores always had a lot of Sonico prize figures, but rarely this blue or red parka ver figure. It was nice to find this one at Suruga-ya in Akihabara.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322028.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322030.jpeg

The next Sonico item is a Banpresto Ichiban Kuji Super Sonico Soniani B3 poster. I got this one for cheap at Sofmap in Shinjuku and I bought another one too as a gift for my friend. It's a nice poster, with Sonico artwork that I haven't seen before, Sonico eating noodles and saying "Yummy!"

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322080.jpeg

This Sonico item is a small item. It's a Banpresto Ichiban Kuji H Prize Super Sonico pencil case. I got this for cheap at Sofmap in Shinjuku. The colors are off, but it's always nice to have some extra Sonico merch.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322604.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474322606.jpeg

Almost coming to an end, we still have a few more items to go.

Here we have a pretty big Black Rock Shooter plush
that I found. I was pretty surprised to find this one. I wasn't too sure if it was a Nendoroid plush or something else, but I liked it anyway. It has a funny face too. I'm not too much into plushies, but I had to get one, I also don't have too much BRS merch yet.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474321950.jpeg

The smallest item that I picked up is this Initial D Takumi Fujiwara Toyota AE86 gashapon model car. I'm actually an Initial D fan too, but just in a small way. I bought this one at a cube rental store in Nakano, it's small and cheap. Maybe in the future I want to get a bigger scale model of the legendary Initial D AE86.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474323081.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MugenTenshinFRD1474323083.jpeg

And finally we have the special Figma Haruhi Suzumiya from the PS2 game limited edition ITEM #260. Actually I never planned to get this figure, but then I suddenly found an amazing deal at a used items store in Nakano. The original price was ¥10290 back at release in 2008. Nowadays, this loose Figma costs only ¥1000-1500. The one I bought doesn't include the game and is in used condition. Now onto the deal, I bought this Figma for the unbelievable price of only ¥100! It even includes all accessories! I can tell that it looks old and used, the box falls apart, but it's a great deal nonetheless. It didn't have a price tag, but when I asked the seller, I was amazed and he even said "Cheap right?" xD

So, that was my Japan holiday loot!
I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to comment and/or like.

Here is also an additional story behind the loot:

First up, missing out on figures. Sometimes I wasn't decisive enough and for example I didn't plan to carry a big figure box for 3 weeks until the end of the holiday. I had the bad luck a few times that a figure was sold out when I came back to a store for the second time. One of the items this happened to was Kasumi (item #). I found it for ¥5800, but the box was bigger then I thought. Only 2 days later it was not there anymore, it was sold. The only other option was one at Mandarake Complex for ¥8000, but in the end I didn't buy it.
Secondly, talking about Kasumi. In Nakano I spotted a Bome Kasumi white 2P version (item #) at a rental case shop. It was only ¥800, but I wasn't sure if the base would come with it (I didn't see it displayed) and the figure was stained slightly (white gets dirty easily). So I didn't buy it anymore.
In Akihabara I also found a nice deal on a Max Factory Kasumi 2P ver (item #). It was only ¥2160 and C condition, while the other A condition one was ¥4320. At first I didn't read the condition and I wondered what was wrong with it. Turned out the sword on her back was broken and loose in the box. I could've gotten this Kasumi too, it's an easy fix with glue, but I guess it bothered me that it was broken.
Finally, missing out on the most important item. Except the fact that I had a great holiday, this was the purchase fail of the holiday.
I planned to buy a Dollfie Dream in Tokyo, one I spotted on Mandarake. I was unsure about buying it, at that point I didn't feel determined to buy it, even though in the back of my head, I knew I wanted it so much.
(At the time I was in Japan, it felt like I was afraid to go the ATM and get a few ten thousand Yen from it. I was also thinking twice about things, it's a lot of money, I can get many figures instead and other thoughts.)
By the time I wanted to buy it (after the first few days), I already was in another city and I saw that it was sold out. Until now, I haven't found a good price on the Dollfie Dream I want yet. I'm just checking Mandarake daily until it pops up one day. I was really dissapointed on missing out on this. It was a good price and the fact that I was in Japan to get it. So yeah, that's also the reason that I didn't spend like crazy on the items I got.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

l0li (Vor 3 Jahren) #14945061I usually buy them for the art, not so much the story because I also can't read much of it. But comiket also has other things like picture collections without text or in one area they sell official merchandise (that is often comiket exclusive). I wrote an article about it on my website nya.bz/c90
But when you buy games instead of manga, do you have no problems playing them? I played VN's with translation software before but for console games this does not work...

Oh, I see, you mostly buy them because of the art. Actually I do want to learn to read, but it still will take me some time.
I checked out your website article, I understand now. Yeah, of course there is much more exclusive merch other then manga/doujinshi. That event looks so big and crowded. I can't imagine having to take the first train to be on time for the queue. Often I see Comiket exclusive dakimakuras pop up for sale.
Well, I just have a few VN games, which are all on PSP, so I can't use translation software. Usually there is a lot of speech too, which I can mostly understand, but for reading it takes time for me too and I need a translator for most part. The pace is usually slow and it takes quite some time to go through a scene. When I feel like I don't understand the story anymore, then I usually give up the session for that moment. For me, VNs are also a learning method to improve and learn my Japanese.

MugenTenshinFRD (Vor 3 Jahren) #14944172They are indeed difficult to transport, especially with their big boxes and the fact that they can damage so easily. Luckily I only bought a few figures, it could've been even more crazy if I bought all the figures that I like or want.
That's nice too, just buying other merch, that's not too hard to carry. Instead of figures, I bought a lot of videogames too as you can see.
Wow, travelling to Japan during Comiket is nice! I might want to experience that too some time, especially after I saw OreImo. Actually I didn't buy any manga, I could have bought that too at Mandarake and other stores, but my Japanese reading isn't that good yet.

I was busy drooling at DOA loots. ^q^

Glad you liked it! Yay, another DOA fan! I'm really happy with the DOA items that I bought, it mostly was my main focus as you can see.

MugiwaraPirates (Vor 3 Jahren) #14927862That was really a nice loot post! Hope to see another one in the future ;)
You got some neat items right there, especially the Hakovision! Now you have your own private Hatsune Miku performance in your room lol. You basically stole that Haruhi Suzumiya Figma from the store cause it was so cheap xD. Like I said I hope to see more posts in the future and don't forget to stay 100 :p (you know what I mean haha)

Thanks! Definitely there will be another (Japan) loot in the future, I already look forward to it! :)
I'm glad you like it. Except the Project Diva VR concerts and the virtual Hatsune Miku inventions, I finally have a new and small way of a concert.
The Figma Haruhi Suzumiya deal was a steal, only ¥100!
I see what you did there in that comment, you came up and done did it. :P

victorviper (Vor 3 Jahren) #14927037Those are some good deals, particularly that DOAX3 set.
Those Hakovision boxes are neat little novelty pieces, too. Too bad I refuse to buy a smartphone.
It's too bad your 100 yen Project Diva 2nd game didn't pan out. How in the world does someone manage to break a UMD, I wonder? That's one of the more indestructible media formats out there!

They are indeed, I'm quite happy about the items I picked up! The DOAX3 set is definitely a deal, I might want the PS4 CE too some day when I go back to Japan.

I'm not sure yet what the Hakovision thing is, I still need to test it out. So it works with smartphones, I see.

I'm still going to try and fix the Project Diva 2nd game. Actually, if you replace the UMD into the PSP everytime, it can start to split the plastic, this also happens if you grip it too hard. For me, only 1 UMD in my collection was damaged by myself. They are strong media formats normally.
