S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Chaser...S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Chaser...

MindsEdgeMindsEdgeVor 3 JahrenReview
Greetings and salutations all, I'm back with an all new, high-speed review!

This time around I'll be visiting the world of Kamen Rider Drive, and will bring you an in-depth review of the third hero to join in the fight against the Roidmudes, the one that first wore the mantel of Drive...

Kamen Rider

The most recent release in the S.H.Figuarts line of Kamen Rider Drive, Chaser comes packaged in typical Tamashii Exclusive style, a plain brown box that houses the actual figures box, the latter of which is decorated with detailed graphics and images of the figure contained within.

Like the previous releases in the Drive line, Chaser is fully plastic, and sports the typical assortment of Figuarts joints, the deep variety allowing him to strike a great deal of solid poses with little to no restriction.

When it comes with accessories, Chaser is somewhat light on them. To start, he comes with three pairs of hands; two fists, two splayed open hands, and two gripping hands.

Also included is Chaser's primary weapon, the Shingou-Ax, which is recreated in great detail, right down to the Signal Push button near the base of the handle.

A clear-plastic plate is also packed in, which can be switched out with the one that is inside the Ax to recreate when the E-Condition Lamp on the blade itself changes to signify when Chaser's finisher isn't or is ready to be used.

On a side note, Chaser's antennae are detached inside his box, and do need to be re-attached when he is displayed.

The paint and detailing on Chaser is top notch, as expected of S.H. Figuarts. The colors are solid, and the molded detail, from the tip of his antennae to the bottoms of his feet really do an excellent job of bringing the character to life in great detail.

If there were any issues I'd have with Chaser, it'd be that the movement of his head is a bit restricted, perhaps a slightly longer neck would have resolved this problem and given him a little more freedom.

Secondly, a reoccurring problem I've noticed with Figuarts of late is the same hand molds being used over and over. Mainly the splayed open and gripping hands.

I can easily understand why they do this, being a collector of Transformers as well, the reuse of a mold is a cost-cutting measure made to get as much life from the item in question as possible, it's just seeing the same hand poses over and over bothers me slightly.

The gripping hands suffer the most from re-use, as they don't really grip the Shingou-Ax quite right, it seems they were mostly included to hold the Break Gunner.

It's a small nitpick, but it's been going on since Gaim, and a little bit of variation in the hands with a new line and Rider would be nice, as even Ghost seems to suffer from this small issue as well.

All in all, Chaser is another solid entry in the S.H. Figuarts line. He's well built, easy to pose, and enjoyable to play with.

While he is definitely a solid release, I can't think to recommend him unless you're a big fan of Drive or if you like the way he looks. If you find yourself interested though, then by all means give him a try, he's still relatively new (at the time of this review at least), so it shouldn't be too difficult to find him at a decent price on the aftermarket, or a middleman website.

Unexpected Note: Well I did a bit of research, and apparently he's sitting at almost $100 now, so maybe wait a bit to see if his price drops in a month or two.

As always, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to check out my review. I certainly hope that it was helpful, and aided you in deciding whether or not to add this Once Fallen and Now Risen Hero to your collection.

'Til next time!

I'm so salty about this being exclusive...
He's clearly popular enough to warrant a retail release, given the aftermarket price and the DVD movie dedicated to him.

Great review! I unfortunately missed out on him and trying to find a site that carries him for less than $90 at the moment is a struggle... Here's hoping he pops up on Manda and Jungle for a more reasonable sum soon. Though somehow I have the feeling he's going to end up like Zangetsu Shin and be more than double his initial price... Argh
