My Yubinbasya doujinshi collection. My Yubinbasya doujinshi collection.

*This is very image heavy*

Prompted by NAMMY, who asked very kindly to see my Yubinbasya (ENCYCLOPEDIA #34157) doujinshi collection I thought I’d do a little blog. This is also something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and since I had a free day I thought I’d finally get around to doing it :)

Yubinbasya is made up of one member, Ryo Akizuki. They started in 1996, though only started to release doujinshi in 1997. Their main fandom is Final Fantasy VII, with the paring Zack/Cloud. They have however branched out into other fandoms as well, most notably Fullmetal Alchemist, Prince of Tennis and more recently Magi. They are without a doubt my favourite artist :D

I started collecting Yubinbasya doujinshi in 2005 and I haven’t stopped since. I discovered Yubinbasya by accident while looking up doujinshi for another series and I fell in love instantly, not only because of the fact that they did Zack/Cloud doujinshi but because of how amazing their doujinshi looked. I was relatively new to doujinshi at the time and had to get someone else to buy them for me off eBay since I didn’t yet have a way to do so myself. It was all very convoluted, but eventually I got my first Yubinbasya doujinshi (Itan no Hana http://escaflowne.co.uk/scan0003.jpg and Sunctuary http://escaflowne.co.uk/scan0031.jpg) and I was blown away by them :)

Anyway on to the pictures XD

B5 sized doujinshi:

http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10893_zps9c250d58.jpg
The doujinshi in the enter in the top image is actually signed which I didn’t know until I’d brought it, it was a nice surprise when I received it :D

A4sized doujinshi:

Information sheets:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10899_zps2adc9f90.jpg
Information sheets are often given out at events to tell people of new doujinshi coming out, and they are also sometimes sent out when you make orders directly from the circle.

Letter pads:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10902_zps8c02aa17.jpg
Most of these are missing pages, which is a shame but I do like that it seems the previous owners used them, I’d love to have a letter written on such paper :D

Binsen:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10909_zps0b55c03c.jpg
Most of these are pulled from letter pads but some, especially the earlier ones, are sold separated. The oldest Yubinbasya item I own is the Evangelion Binsen.

Clear files:

Cards/Stickers/Original Sketch:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10911_zps41c91e11.jpg
The Vincent image in the middle is in fact an original illustration which I brought from Y!J a few years ago, I was really surprised to have won it :D

Towels:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10915_zps3c1c119a.jpg
The top towels are the size of bath towels, and cost me a lot, and are probably the most expensive things I own.

Wallscroll:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10917_zpsbc970742.jpg
I love this a lot, it’s just a shame I don’t have room for it to go up anywhere ;_;

Calendars:

Misc:
http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10923_zps73e0a779.jpg
Spoons XD Honestly my favourite thing ever because they seem like such a random thing to make. We’ve also got a first aid kit here which is also kind of an odd item to make.

Wrist pillows:

My loves XD

Mug/Glasses:

http://escaflowne.co.uk/SDC10940_zpse937f1b6.jpg
I’m often really surprised by the quality of the bags since they are given free with purchases and yet they are such high quality, made from plastic or fabric even.

If you ever, for some reason, decide to sell (any of) these, please do let me know? xD

timeless54 (Vor 2 Jahren) #3276001It's really great!
I just happen to lurk and your post was the latest and well, I'm here :D
I just have a question, do you know which doujin is the ZC remix 01? I know the 02 is Strawberry Statement and onwards, yet I'm not sure which is the first (if there is a first?).

There is a first ZC Remix, which is called ZC REMIX 99-00.

Hope that helps :)

THESmidge (Vor 2 Jahren) #3259381I didn't know there was anyone who still used the Yubin lj, though I'm glad to see someone from there :D
I've been collecting for a long time, and I've been incredibly lucky, they're the only reasons I have as much as I do. I'm still ridiculously proud of it though :)

timeless54 (Vor 2 Jahren) #3259075I saw your post from the yubin lj and homg I'm so jealous! I've started collecting her works as well but my collection is not even close to yours. It's a feat of its own!

Raze (Vor 4 Jahren) #2184453Lucky you won so many Esca character goods in one go! I just have a few cards, those neat metal bookmarks and some books. I got to meet Nakata which was amazing. His autograph lines were crazy long and while everyone else wanted him to sign things from newer series, I chose Esca as my series.
I didn't know Dragonfly made a Nostalgia scanlation. I missed getting their version. Oh, there's Baby, Baby. Ah, coffee and AC fun, haha.
Have you heard of Takahashi Kanbanten for Esca doujinshi? She makes VxH titles even now! I bought some of her titles way back when and I like the art. I've been listening to the Esca music lately so it feels recent; I keep forgetting just how old this show is. ^o^
I want to use an online database that won't be affected by software changes, but I haven't found the right one yet.

I was really lucky, I couldn't believe it :D

Ah that's so cool, I've never been lucky enough to meet anyone like that. I always find it funny when I remember people for working on older things when everyone seems to know them for newer stuff, I sometimes forget that people go on to work on other stuff XD

I love their doujinshi, I've gone to buy quite a few books buy them but I've always just missed out on them for whatever reason. One day XD

I forget how old the series is as well, I'm always listening to the OSTs so yeah it does feel recent XD

I would like something like here to keep track of everything, but I've not found anything either.

THESmidge (Vor 4 Jahren) #2182695They do take up a lot of room, I've just reorganised my collection, and was surprised by just how much they did take up. I love Escaflowne, it's my favourite anime. I currently own quite a bit of merch, not as much as I'd like though XD I actually got really lucky and won most of them in a lot off Y!J. I own one Esca doujinshi that my sister brought because it had Gaddes x Allen in :D I have seen a lot of beautiful Hitomi x Van doujinshi however that I would love to own one day :D
The two scanlations were done by Rasmus-kun ramsus-kun.webs... and the other was done by Dragonfly dragonfly.gesta... I can't remember now if there was much differnt in the translatons though.
I have a lot of Beyblade doujinshi, it's the series I collect the most for but it's actually quite hard to find doujinshi for it since it's kind of old now. I have a few Reborn doujinshi aswell but I mainly just buy doujinshi for pairings I like.
I only really collect Yubin as a circle, I just buy whatever else looks pretty regardless of the artist XD It would definitely be hard to collect for more than one circle, not that I wouldn't try though XD
I'm quite good at remembering what doujinshi I've already got so I don't really keep track of them as such, for me it's all the goods I often forget I have and need a way for keeping track of XD

Raze (Vor 4 Jahren) #2182526I didn't need to sell my doujinshi but they took up a lot of space --as I'm sure you know, LOL-- plus I didn't read them as much as before, so off to new homes they went! I even let go of my Esca ones except for two. Gotta see Hitomi and Van have happy scenes! I see you're a fan; nice to know someone remembers this series! I like to get merch from the show but it's hard to find much more than media releases. How many things do you have from Esca?
There are... two scanlations of Nostalgia? <eyes bug out> I didn't know there was another! I gotta look at that other one. I always look at scanlations for titles I've bought.
I was in my Rufus and Reno fangirling mode (for the two characters, not them together) when I got the Micromacro book. For years I had gotten all sorts of pairs so it was weird not to see those other guys in the book. Later, AC Complete came out and I liked R & R more. I was going to jump on the Micromacro bandwagon when they created Death Note doujinshi but I didn't. Do you get doujinshi from many other series?
Ah, so you have your sister to thank for getting you hooked on Yubin. :D I can't imagine getting everything from an artist. I tried that at the start of my doujinshi collecting and I'm glad I stopped shortly afterwards. Keeping up was too hard. I do have a clear file from the first circle I was able to directly order books from. It was so cool to be able to tell them in English how much I liked their works. How do you keep track of all the titles you've bought?

THESmidge (Vor 4 Jahren) #2181398I think with me it's more I've never really HAD to sell them so it's not really been something I've seriously considered. It's nice to know you didn't have to sell those you'd tracked down though, at least the others went to another fan, so you know they would be appreciated. I think that's something I'd worry about, knowing if the person I sold them too would look after them, which I'm sure they would.
I've read two different scanlations of Nostalgia, I was so excited that someone had scanlated it :D I remember having a conversation with one of the translators as well, though it was mostly me flailing at them :D
I don't have many FFVII douinshi other than Yubin, and none from AC which I'm always amused by tbh. I just never fell in love with any other artists that did Zack and Cloud so I never picked any up, but it was nice to see so many new FFVII books regardless. I've actually got some Micormacro doujinshi, for Sherlock Holmes and The Avengers, I'd seen their FFVII works but I don't ship Reno x Rufus nor Sephiroth x Cloud so I never picked them up, which is a shame since I love their art. I really love scanlations, I try and not read any for books I don't own, but I do anyway most of the time XD
I never necessarily set out to collect everything when I started but then my sister brought me a lot of her works the same Christmas I started collecting, and suddenly since I had so many I just wanted them all :)
